Not my son

To all those Mums of boys. To all those dads of boys. To all those who have little men in their lives…

This.

This is important.

I have called people out for referring to Billy as a sook when he shows emotion - and I will continue to do that because it’s super important that boys (who will become men) learn it’s ok to have emotions and to show them.

Because it’s in the dampening and the avoidance of emotions that anger, frustration and resentment fester - and eventually come out. Sometimes, many years later. And usually - that isn’t in the most nicest of ways.

Teach your boys to take care of their bodies, to pamper themselves, to develop a self-care routine. Teach them that everyone has emotions, that kindness is key.

But most of all - show them these things. It’s in the doing that the magic happens.
