My favourite café is changing hands

My fave cafe.jpg

During Covid - this place stayed. They provided a sense of normality in what was supremely abnormal. They gave Billy his bubbachino, his “bikkie” and me my prana chai.

They knew each of their customers by name, service was exceptionally fast and they had amazing gluten-free savoury muffins.

As I sit here for the last time before the new owners take over, there is a grief in the change. And it took me a while to realise why.

Then as ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ bounces through the speakers, and I got emotional, it became clear.

This is where Billy and I came when I was battling post-natal anxiety. It was me grasping at the life I’d left behind pre-baby.

It was safe.

It was a small step.

It’s the people behind these businesses that make them.

And to Farmhouse - I thank you. For helping me through one of the most challenging times of my life.
